“This decaying fabric, this unknowable terrain has become my biography, the euphoria then the anguish, layers of memories colliding, splintering and reconfiguring” Laura Grace Ford in Savage Messiah
About the work:
Wasteland 1 is a one off original digital dye sublimation print onto fabric created from manipulated silk shantung fibres. This original artwork features original analog photographic imagery. The work explores a narrative of absence and loss in the urban wasteland. Stories of those places and things that have come before that form the ghosts of our life. The ghosts of our lives haunt the long-abandoned ballrooms of the past, the hotels gone to seed, the docks and the river that continues flowing with the rust and the detritus of ages beneath its waters; vestiges of thoughts gone holding still to their memories. She hides from out of site but we know she is watching always in those urban spaces that have deteriorated into total dereliction, where every unidentified noise is pregnant with menace..
